There will be some difficult choices! Relax and do nothing, jog the 3.5km sandy trail or explore the 175 acres of native woodland where you can discover rare native plants, marvel at the diversity of birdlife, see kangaroos and, if you are quiet enough, rare hopping mice, lizards, echidnas and many other native species. We have even provided a few games and some thought provoking books as alternative to television, (which is really only there because some may expect it!)
The property is situated on the Lower Lakes area of the Fleurieu Peninsula a short five minute drive from Clayton Bay, a quiet holiday hamlet, off the beaten track.
Across the water from Hindmarsh Island, Clayton Bay is a hub of the Lower Murray Wetlands which have gained prominence as a migratory bird habitat of world stature. It is also the perfect place to play in, or by, the water and even has a large area set aside for non-motorised recreation. For the day visitor, the foreshore reserves provide a café, playground, picnic spots under shady trees and pleasant walking trails around the water's edge.
A short drive in the opposite direction will take you to Milang: once a large and bustling inland port, it is now a quaint lakeside town sitting quietly across Lake Alexandrina from the Coorong National Park. Here is where you will find the local bakery, pub and general store. A quiet country drive will take you into to the heart of the Langhorne Creek wine region where you can enjoy boutique vineyards, restaurants, local providores or simply a leisurely meal in a local café.
In addition, delightful seaside towns with restaurants and Sunday markets, the wines of McLaren Vale and the surf beaches of the southern Fleurieu are all well with reach.
